Jay Collins Rendahl

CCRC, BA, Director of Research Operations, CEO

Jay is one of the founders of Viking Clinical Research, Ltd., and has been active in the medical and research communities for more than 25 years. He served honorably in the US Navy, both active and reserve, for 14 years in various medical and psychological capacities. He is a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. 

David Schwartz

MD, Family Practice and Geriatric Medicine

David Schwartz, MD, Family Practice and Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Schwartz has been the Principal Investigator and Medical Director of Viking Clinical Research Center since 2002. Dr. Schwartz has been something of a “fixture” here in the Temecula Valley for more than 20 years. With experience in Emergency Medicine, and board certification in Family Practice and Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Schwartz has been both principal and sub-investigator in cardiology, urology, and affective-disorder protocols. He has an extremely diverse and large patient population base. Because of this patient population, Dr. Schwartz has been instrumental in ensuring that enrollment is quick and accurate. As the Medical Director or Viking Clinical Research Center, Dr. Schwartz is available for consultation at any time.

Deanna Medina

Receptionist/Coordinator Assistant

Deanna has been in the medical profession for over 20 years. She is a study coordinator responsible for lab sample preparation; patient scheduling, obtaining vital signs, and EDC entry. Deanna is IATA Certified

Sharon Eaton

Director of Finance

Sharon has been with Viking Clinical Research since 2009. With a background in human-resources and accounting; Sharon is our Financial Director who is responsible for contracts, advertising, and study budgeting. She is also our point-person for creating and maintaining contracts with as-needed ancillary diagnostic sites.

Maria C. Rodriquez

CRC, BA, Director of Clinical Operations

Carmen has been with Viking Clinical Research since 2012. She is the lead study coordinator. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Social Science with a concentration in medical anthropology. She has over 14 years of experience coordinating clinical research trials in the area of CNS; Urology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Alzheimer’s and MDD.   

Brittany Sam

BA, Study Coordinator

Brittany has been with Viking clinical Research since 2012 and has over 8 years of medical and clinical research experience. She is lead study coordinator and facilitates each patient visit. Brittany is also a point person for any technical necessities with regards to EDC, patient diaries, or electronic assessment devices. Brittany is IATA certified. Brittany has completed her BA at Arizona State University in Psychology.

Alvin Garlejo

MPH, Study Coordinator

Alvin has been a study coordinator since 2015. He has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Public Health. Alvin has been a lead and a back-up coordinator on many studies and is also a go-to person for issues regarding technical know-how.

Shannon Matteson

MA, Study Coordinator

Shannon has been a study coordinator since 2016. She has a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, Bachelors of Science in Education and a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling.  We are grateful to have her on our team.

Sana Johnson-Quijada

MD, Psychiatry

Dr. Johnson-Quijada has been our Principal Investigator on a number of CNS protocols since 2003. Dr. Johnson-Quijada (Dr. “Q”) has received accolades from sponsor companies for expedited enrollment, and more importantly, for having a high completion rate in studies that she has overseen at Viking Clinical Research Center. She recently completed studies in the area of generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaaffective disorder, and social phobia.
